Free Thinking and Breaking The Chains

There are a lot of what some would call “radical” ideas and concepts on this page. Why? I have always had respect for those people who genuinely think for themselves, and express themselves fearlessly.

Do you agree with what is here? Ok, good. Talk about it.

Do you disagree? ok…why? Talk about it.

Frank Zappa on CNN…….

And…

Sam Harris, author of “The End of Faith” and “Letter To A Christian Nation”

Talks about the dangers of religion, and it’s consequences in the 21st century. It’s a long one, about 24 minutes, but it’s well worth watching, more then once.

There is no god, never has been, never will be.

Religion comes from fear of the inevitable, mostly death. But as with most things, power hungry, greed mongers saw something they could take advantage of . Religious types chose to be led, lack the ability or the willingness to think for themselves, and seem to delight in their own delusion. What a waste of life.

This god delusion has never made any sense to me, for lots of reasons. There are so many obvious holes and contradictions in western religion, most religions do, I suppose, but my experience is with western judaic/christian propaganda. One of the things that baffles me about people is the ability to be completely ignore what is in front of them.

How did I come to this point, you ask? Of course you didn’t ask…no one has seen this site.. anyway…

I was born with an obvious disability, it won’t go away, and god won’t heal it. If you saw me on the street you would clearly see that I’m disabled. When I was about 5 years old a your priest came to our home and explained that my disability was a result of some unidentified sin my parents had committed. I heard this story a few times in later years, no to inflict guilt, but simply as information. I suppose this may have been where my rejection of religion began.

This was made easier because I can’t remember ever being in church with my family. It just wasn’t something we did. Throughout my life, I’ve come across religious people of all stripes, and have found them all quite confusing and contradictory. It didn’t take long to see all the contradictions, it was usually clear in the first moments of conversations. Questions would enter my mind almost immediately. Sometimes I’d stay quiet, as long as I could; other times I’d start asking questions straight away. Some people would, to their credit, really consider these questions. Others would get a glazed over look in their eyes and shut down Still others would try to challenge my questions and push back a bit. Most of these exchanges would end in my being annoyed and the other person quoting scripture after scripture in response to anything I said. It occurred to me much later that this falling back on quoting scripture is an example of not being able to come up with thoughts and ideas of their own. Religions don’t want people to think for themselves, free thought and individuality are contrary to the thought control that religions want over people.

More later…..

There are a number of Newsletters, podcasts, and websites that deal in depth with the religious delusion. Here’s a few:

Some of the forums and groups can be quiet at times, but they are still worth a look.
